Ironhut is written by a 41-year-old male. I have been training with weights for 17 years mostly on my own and sometimes under the instruction of reputable online trainers.
All my training has been undertaken in a large shed at the bottom of my garden hence the site name Ironhut.
My training mainly revolves around the big 3 power lifts (Squat, Bench press, Deadlift) with an emphasis on getting stronger and bigger over time while staying healthy, in shape and at acceptable body fat levels (acceptable to me)
My strength and physique have been built purely by training at home I have only stepped foot in a commercial gym twice in my life. Once was at school, once was when I considered joining a chain fitness gym (one look was enough to put me off) I have trained in hotel gyms while on holiday a couple of times but apart from that everything else has been done at home.
I’m not anti gyms and there are some very good UK gyms I just like lifting at home in my own environment, with my own equipment by my own rules.
From where my I started levels started to where they are now I would be termed an ‘advanced lifter’ someone who looks like a weight lifter who is stronger than most of the general public. I’m not an ‘Elite’ lifter, expert or trainer I’m someone with average genetics who lifts weights at home.
This is my own personal blog about my home gym training but this blog is also here for anyone else who is interested in home gym training, powerlifting, bodybuilding, power building, strength & conditioning, nutrition, motivation and improving themselves physically.
